Smart people especially need a coach

Did you know that the smarter the person, the greater the need for coaching?

This is because smart people are good at analysing, rationalising and making decisions. When there is uncertainty and risk, smart people tend to quickly implement known solutions as an automatic reaction.

Being able to do that can be really helpful, but it can also mean you’re stuck in a certain pattern. It might be even better to approach the situation in a completely different way that you haven’t tried before and haven’t seen

A skilled coach will work with you to create calm and a safe, trusting space for reflection, where there is an opportunity to explore thoughts and open the window to new ways of thinking.

Coaching activates the brain, so you have the opportunity to break the automatic reaction, and restructure, expand and change thoughts and perspective, and find new ways of approaching problems.

Coaching can raise awareness and encourage healthy ways of living and working together in the world.

This is the value and gift of coaching.

Ask yourself two questions

You can shake things up a bit on your own by asking yourself the following two questions:

1) What challenge or nagging question do you have in your life or at work that you have not yet addressed?

2) What could you gain if you could solve this challenge or find a new way to live with it?
