Problems must be solved with new thinking

Udgivet d. 30. September 2024

We cannot solve our problems with the same mindset that created them.

If we don’t change our thinking, we can get stuck in problems and dissatisfying situations for far too long.

When we do not thrive

At various times in my career, I have experienced that the circumstances surrounding my area of responsibility changed, – the work tasks changed, – the colleagues increasingly felt under pressure, and it all affected my job role, job satisfaction and well-being.

I felt that my skills were no longer the right ones for the role, that the values with which the management was carried out no longer corresponded to mine, collaboration with other functional areas began to become difficult and I felt inadequate and alone. And I had a hard time seeing alternatives.

If I had had a coach

If I had had a coach, she could have helped me to think new thoughts and initiate small initiatives that would have made it easier for me to be in a difficult situation, and also help me to see that I had alternatives and with working towards a better situation.

At the time, I had not even considered getting a Coach as a “Thinking Partner”.

Someone who could help me see things clearly and find what would be better and the right thing for me to do. Someone who would be my loyal partner and be there for me while working through a process. Someone who would give me her time, listening ears, sharp observations, perspectives and questions when I needed it.

I hadn’t considered that a coach could be the very best investment, and that my loved ones would have gotten a more present and resourceful partner, mother and friend.

Your loyal “Thinking Partner”

Here are a few questions for your reflection:

  • Maybe you have also hang around for too long in something you did not enjoy?
  • Perhaps you are currently in something that you do not enjoy, but find it difficult to see alternatives?
  • Which challenge would you really like to try having a coach help you through?
  • How would it be for you to engage a coach as a partner in one of your challenges?
